Etotha Carnival
Etotha Carnival is an annual cultural and heritage tourism event that aims to showcase and celebrate
Namibia's cultural and heritage diversity in a way that provides economic value and benefits to the local community. The Carnival intends to diversify tourism products, strengthen domestic tourism, and attract international travelers to experience the beauty of Namibia. Moreover, it serves as a unifying platform for Namibians to come together and celebrate the country's cultural richness and heritage diversity.
The Carnival anticipates attracting thousands of attendees from across the country and beyond, presenting an excellent opportunity to showcase Namibia's rich cultural richness and natural beauty to the audience.
Attendees can expect a fun-filled weekend of events, including but not limited to, traditional gastronomy cookout competition, totem parade, traditional games, horse riding, skydiving and quad biking among others.
An entrance fee that will be charged for the Carnival is N$100.00 per person for the whole event duration or N$30.00 per person per day.
The Carnival will be hosted in collaboration with the Ondonga Traditional Authority and Namibia Tourism Board as the traditional custodian of the identified area where the event will be held. In addition, the event will be hosted with the support of other relevant stakeholders. The Carnival is expected to attract a magnitude of thousands of people from within the country and abroad, and is scheduled to take place as per the details below:
Theme: Safeguarding the jubilant pans to enhance the tang for our future generation. – “Uutoye womongwa wetu!”
Tagline: Celebrating our ancient heritage. – “Uuthiga wetu!”
Preliminary Date: 27th June – 1st July 2024
Venue: “Kangonde” salt pan, Onanke village, Oshikoto region
